Laura Eubanks (my friend and succulent designer) uses many types rock to create the different succulent landscape designs that she creates. Laura showed me pot feet have two main functions. Both are from the same sub-family and share a common origin, but there are clear mark differences that distinguish these two plants. This is used to suspend the plants above water in your container. Pot feet allow air to flow underneath the container, which allows for the soil’s drying out between waterings. For any succulent container garden to thrive, it is important that water flows freely and air circulates so that the soil can dry. It’s most likely a problem if the soil is not able to drain and it’s glued. As with most cacti, heat is not a problem for the Fairy Castle Cactus. A glued-down top dressing can also cause problems with airflow. The soil will also dry better if there is airflow under the pot.

In this case, I would loosen up the pebbles so that water can flow better to the roots. Hard water contains high concentrations of dissolved mineral particles such as magnesium and calcium. You don’t need to break up the pebbles if you feel confident you can get water to the roots of the succulent. Second, it can help enhance the colors in your succulents, or compliment them. The top dressing keeps the soil from moving during watering. To help them enter dormancy, it is important to keep the soil around the plants dry. At the moment this isn’t the prettiest part of my garden, but it is functional and should help prevent the plants in these pots from rotting! Top dressing can help keep organic soil with small particles in place, especially if it is organic. The Bonsai Jack was a great resource for me when I couldn’t find exactly what I was looking. After the stem cuttings have dried, you can see sprouts. It is important to have the right combination of plants in your indoor garden so that it does not fade or become stale.

Top dressings make succulent arrangements look professional and polished. If your plants are looking wilted and limp, it is time to water them. They are amazing designers and I was fortunate to photograph some of their arrangements when working on my book, Idiot’s Guides: Succulents. These planters are about two inches tall and three inches wide, so they’re the perfect petite planters for arrangements of small succulents like Echeverias and Haworthias, too. If you’re using a simple grow lamp, place your plant approximately 3 to 6 feet from the lamp. A healthy cactus means that there are good prospects and hope for the future. This is an indication that your succulent has absorbed too much water. These succulents are more sensitive to drought than others. The question of where to buy succulents online is getting ever more difficult. If your succulents are not thriving, you might consider moving them outside for a portion of the year. This will allow them to get more sunlight. These plants are happier outside than they are indoors. So, give them some sun during the warm months.

There are many reasons to trim, but the main reason is that you can always start new plants with the bits you’ve cut. You can then continue your newly created watering schedule once the soil feels dry. Once you have filled the pot with the soil and plants, add the top dressing. It’s not so difficult as you might think. I’ve spent hours shopping online and locally for just the right thing. A cacti garden can be your ultimate savior if you understand how to do it right. Each stem can grow quite thick, reaching up to 1 foot in diameter. You can quickly propagate string of bananas it by cutting stems or leaves in spring, or even as soon as the summer starts. What if we tell you there are succulent varieties that can also produce wonderful flower stalks? You’ll be shocked to know that these plants are prolific growers and can still produce beautiful flower stalks, even if it is not necessary to fertilize. It is the most expensive option, but if you move your plants inside for the winter, this makes that process much easier. The Vicks Plant is easy to propagate, whether you use cuttings, offsets, or seeds. Cotyledon Tomentosa can be propagated through cuttings, leaves, and seeds. If the hole in your pot is not present, you can easily make one using a diamond-tip drill bit.
